Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, many elderly people have been forced to move to another area due to danger or the loss of their homes and relatives. The war also put a pause on all the projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the elderlies in geriatric boarding houses. This led to a shortage of basic items, primarily bed linen and therefore – the deterioration of the conditions of the care recipients.
Since March, we have been resuming the "Give the gift of comfort" project to create cozy living conditions in boarding houses for the elderly.
The purpose of the fund is to ensure dignified old age in Ukraine.
The goal of the project is to update the bed linen, which includes a sheet, a duvet cover and a pillowcase, for each care recipient to a quality and pleasant to the touch. After all, the bed is the thing with which the care recipients of the boarding house are in contact the most, and the people who are lying down are in general contact with it all the time. Therefore, depending on the condition of the bedding, the old person will feel comfortable and cozy, or on the contrary - disgusted and sad.
This project provides the purchase of bed linen for institutions that recently received the least help from volunteers, foundations and the state, as well as institutions that receive the largest number of IDPs and need additional support from the foundation.
The cost of one set, including logistics costs, is about UAH 605. We plan to collect at least UAH 968 000 ($ ~25 473), which will be enough to cover the needs of Cherkasy and Zhytomyr regions. We will be infinitely grateful if we can raise a larger amount and help other regions, primarily Ivano-Frankivsk and Kyiv. Let's remind that under the care of the "Let's help" fund there are 127 geriatric boarding houses in 10 regions of Ukraine.
Join the project with your contribution on the foundation's website or on the All-Ukrainian platform Dobro.ua.
Together we will give comfort and coziness to lonely elderly people!
